Organiser: Kerry Walton
This will be a reasonably easy weekend trip into the beautiful Orongorongo Valley. We'll be leaving early on Saturday morning so yes you can finish that assignment and still come.
We will divide into groups and explore some of the tributaries off-track and run through some basic navigation, river crossing, first aid and trip planning excersizes. The days will be moderately long but far from strenuous and, hopefully, a lot of fun! There will be a swimming hole not too far from where we camp and possibly a bonfire. We will be camping in the valley and enjoying some better-than-normal tramping food and maybe even mulled wine (for those who dabble).
You will need warm clothes (not cotton!), a rain coat, boots, a sleeping bag, 2x lunches, a ground mat and a head torch. 1x breakfast and Saturday dinner will be provided. Eat breakfast before you come on Saturday or bring a muffin!
