Organisers: Florian Treier, Louise Cavanna
After snowcraft we will stay a few more days up at the mountain and try to do some more fun things. This time without spiky stuff at our feet’s though.
For those who don't have a clue of what touring ski is, we would recommend you to have a look on youtube, as it is completely different from conventional downhill ski. We will first walk up the Ruaphu with our skis and overnight bag, hopefully stay in a hut and then ski back down.
Ideally, participants also do the AIC trip just before, otherwise you have to organise your own transport from Wellington.
The trip is suitable for intermediate and experienced touring skier. Experienced downhill skier with good physical conditions can also participate. The gear list to have is the basic + overnight one (Don't forget sunscreen and sunglasses!). As usual, we recommend avoiding cotton. Gaiters or waterproof pants and jacket, warm gloves and hat are required.
For those who haven’t their own gear (ski, ski boots, poles, etc.) we are currently looking at the possibility of renting that stuff close to the Ruapehu. More information about this soon.
This is going to be a legendary trip to the top, with lot of fun! Hopefully, see you there! ;)
