Organisers: Michael Baird, Florian Treier
Learn some of the basics of mountainerring/ winter tramping. We will teach you how to travel on snow using ice axes and crampons, about the gear and clothing you need and a bit about alpine weather.
Required gear include waterproof jacket and overtrousers and sturdy boots that can take crampons, if you're unsure about the suitablity bring them a meeting and one of the committee can check them. And of course plenty of warm baselayers, midlayers, gloves etc...
This will be run out of the HVTC lodge, just before the start of the season.
These skills are required for 'mid winter' trips.
Signups for this trip are not 'first in first served' but at the descresion of Florian and Michael, with priority going to those who will be attending Midwinter first.
