What?
Keen to climb mountain? Interested in getting more confident on steeper snow and to learn some rope work skills? Come say hi to some yetties, this is the trip for you!
This trip will probably have a few groups for people who bring different levels of experiance to the table. It will center around teaching how to use ropes and build anchors, as well as offering a mentoured space to help translate theory into experiance.
I am also going to restrict this trip to people who has at least enough rope knowlidge to climb multi-pich sport, and thows who are comphortable cramponing on moderate terain. This is to make sure we are all on the same page when we are on the mountain.
Theory night?
If enough people can make it Kerian offered to organise a theory night going over a veriaty of rope work techniques that wouod be easyest to learn in a building befour tryingt hem out on the mountain. This will probably cover anchor building and (old school) glacier travil techniques. This will be super usefull to go to, and will probably be Tuesday 27th.
Where?
We will probably stay at the TTC lodge at Whakapapa, but there is a chance we may decide to go to Whangiahu hut at Tukino.
Gear?
Ridged or semi-ridged boots are prity important if you are fround pointing, so people will need to bring boots as least as ridged as an asolo to partisipate.
You will also need warm and windproof clothing, and idealy gloved wich alow you some dexterity. (Ice Ninjas from bunnings shouls be fine.) Aparently gaters are optional these days.
Climbing and ice gear can be hired from the club for free.
Cost?
Around $110 for food, and acomidation, plus $25 each way to give to drivers.
Guest instructors will not pay anything.
